The frustrating thing was going from having a Labrador puppy whom we were house training but sadly died at 6 months and then going straight to this little gem and starting all over again. My poor carpets!
We have a big cage in our room where she sleeps. I have claustrophobia so the thought of caging them goes against the grain but there is so much space in the cage it almost defeats the point with the cage training for house training but she has been quite good. I really didn't want her sleeping on my bed as I just retrieved my bed from my kids ;-p I'm glad I persevered with it, she actually loves sleeping in her cage. If I go to bed early she comes and snuggles on the bed with me but when it starts getting late she goes into her cage by herself.
The cage training works quite well with the house training, although we're not great at being diligent with it. Luckily we're home all day as my hubby works from home so we make sure to let her out every time she goes to the door. To begin with we took her out every 15 minutes with lots of praise every time she made a wee or poo.
